Product Description

The Brass Oval Caged Bulkhead Ship Light is an original solid brass ship’s bulkhead light with a rough cast look and a thick, aged glass dome inside a hinged brass cage. It was salvaged from the 1950s-era ship breaking yards in Bangladesh and rewired with a new 10mm threaded-entry brass E27 lamp holder, earthed internally.

Fix it to a wall or ceiling with its four bolted mountings. It suits low ceilings where there is no room for a pendant. Undo the two wing nuts and the cage hinges open to change the globe.

Wiring

Choose your wiring from the Voltage menu: E27 230V with tail cables, E26 120V with tail cables, or E26 120V for surface conduit. For an authentic look, run it from surface conduit made with brass plumbing fittings and copper pipe; you may need a few elbows for a neat installation.

Reflector

Choose a white painted reflector or bare sandblasted brass (paint removed) from the Reflector Colour menu.

Outdoor Use

These were originally stamped IP64 (protected from dust and splashing water), but polishing has removed the mark. We consider them IP rated, but careful installation is needed to keep them sealed.

Finishes

Polished solid brass with the patina of age. Each light has its own marks. We have several matching lights, but cannot promise more once they are sold.
