1250 mm Vintage Texas Rig-a-lite explosion proof aluminium light is a re-polished ship light previously employed in ships’ engine rooms, cargo decks and similar hazardous locations. This 1250 mm Vintage Texas Rig-a-lite explosion proof aluminium light was designed to allow efficient lighting on LNG or LPG carriers and chemical container ships where explosion proof lighting is essential. These were also used to light drilling rigs. Built in the 1960’s, these light fittings are not too heavy weighing around 13kg each. These have a 1200mm long glass cover and will require two 4 ft tubes either flourescent or LED

These are as we obtained with all original fittings and ballast as flourescent lights.

These are surplus to our requirements and we are selling these to make way for new stock. These will contain the original parts set to take regular 4 foot (120cm) flourescent tubes unless you choose an option to refit.

Ballast Refit

These come from ship breaking with their original Japanese fitted 100 Volt ballast and wiring so a careful check or refit will be required by an electrician prior to installation. We can supply 240 Volt 65 watt magnetic Ballast and tubes as parts at additional cost for your electrician to install. Please check first with your electrician if they are fine to make this modification.

They are ridiculously over engineered for the purpose we now see them being used for, but they are an industrial style that we think would work well in an industrial themed cafe or bar. These can be used in wet areas as outdoor lighting.  Incorporating a flat glass cover, they may also provide lighting for food preparation areas i.e., shatterproof.

These lights have been stripped and then polished to a degree, but not to a “perfect surface”. We clean them up as best we can, but they will show signs of wear consistent with their age. The original vapour containment system and ballast for the fluorescent tubes are intact.

We supply with the “lever type” mount brackets that may be installed as a non functional decorative industrial feature or you could attempt to use as mount points.

Please note these light fittings are refurbished and may no longer qualify as vapour or explosion proof. Therefore they are not suitable for hazardous applications.

Warranty

Since these are vintage ships lighting salvaged from ship breaking these do not come with any warranty. If you do experience a problem we may be able to assist with parts.
