Product Description
The Brass Coventry Wall Insulator No42 Amber is a wall light that uses a reproduction amber Hemingray No. 42 telephone insulator as the shade, on our Coventry brass lamp holder with a 1/2″ threaded hollow arm and wall plate. The insulator screws onto the lamp holder’s 10mm top thread with a bronze coupler, and the globe sits just inside the glass. A locking mechanism stops the lamp holder body unscrewing when you change the globe.
The Hemingray Glass Company, of Kentucky and Indiana, was the world’s largest maker of glass insulators, and the No. 42 was one of its most common designs. The bumps around the base are drip points, patented by Hemingray in 1893 to draw moisture off the insulator. Amber was never an original No. 42 colour, so ours is a reproduction made for lighting. We have it moulded in solid glass the same way as the original, but without the internal glass thread, so the lamp holder sits further into the glass and leaves room for larger globes.
Voltage and Wall Plates
