The Vintage Plumbing Pipe 6 Russian Insulator Gantry Light is a plumbing pipe gantry light with six glass power-line insulators as shades, for over a bar, serving counter or table where plenty of light is needed, or as a feature ceiling light. Inside each insulator is an E14 lamp holder, and the pipe is bolted to the insulators with a specially made washer. Unlike our standard gantry lights, the main bar is 1″ pipe (34mm), strong enough to carry the weight of the glass. It hangs from two pipes, one of which is the wiring point. The glass insulators follow a high-voltage design first made in the Soviet Union in 1965 for tall power towers. They are still made today, so we can source them reliably. Each weighs about 1kg. Each light is made by hand to order in our workshop. Precision parts and careful assembly make it strong enough for commercial as well as home use.

Options

Choose the insulators from the Insulator menu: green fluted or large clear. Choose the pipe finish from the Custom Finish menu: galvanised (standard), raw black steel (oil rubbed), flat black, brass painted, or stripped and rusted. The rusted finish is sealed with Penetrol, which gives a darker, smoother rustic look; it may still age slightly over time. For a shorter light, choose the 3-insulator version (877mm long) from the Optional Shorter Length Version menu.

Voltage

Choose E14 230V (Australia, NZ, UK) or E12 120V (USA, Canada) sockets and wiring from the Voltage menu. Our 120V versions use UL-listed parts, but the light itself is not UL listed.
