750mm Vintage green explosion proof twin tube light is a restored ship light previously employed in ships’ engine rooms, cargo decks and similar areas. This 750mm Vintage green explosion proof twin tube light was designed to allow efficient lighting on LNG or LPG carriers and chemical container ships where explosion proof lighting is essential. Built in the 1990’s, these light fittings are extremely heavy duty weighing around 18kg each.

These lights come with their original cage and reflector but these can be removed when installing to create a different look. It may be that you require light to spill upwards, so you would remove the reflectors. See gallery images.

They are ridiculously over engineered for the purpose we now see them being used for, but they are an industrial style that we think would work well in an industrial themed cafe or bar. Incorporating two glass containment tubes, they may also provide lighting for food preparation areas i.e., shatterproof. These lights have been cleaned and refitted, but not to a “perfect surface”. We clean them up as best we can, but they will show signs of wear and some paint spatters consistent with their age. The original ballast and the fluorescent tubes are removed and the light fitting is retro-fitted with high quality (CRI90), low voltage LED strip inside a custom made aluminium profile. The LED can be dimmed via the driver.

Wiring and globes

The driver is located inside the old ballast tube at the top of the fitting. Wiring is completed ready to be installed by your electrician. We supply chain suspension when installed as a pendant. Each end should use two chains however this can be altered. Alternatively, you can hard mount it to a ceiling or to a wall vertically.

Choose between 240V and 120V to suit your Country voltage.  For US and Canada, UL listed components are used but the light fitting itself is not UL listed.
TRIAC Dimming is compatible with most mains-connected trailing or leading edge dimmers. 1-10V dimming can be used with any 1-10V dimmer or other systems such as DALI. You can also choose to have this supplied with no driver and supply your own to supply 24 volt constant voltage to suit your control system.

For 1-10V dimming selection a 4 meter length of flex cable in black braid is also supplied as standard. For 220-240V 5 core cable is supplied. This will provide active, neutral and earth along with two wires for the dimming circuit. For 110-120V  we supply one 3 core cable for power and ground, and one 2 core cable for the dimming circuit.

For TRIAC (mains dimming) we supply 4 Meters of 3 core cable, since dimming control is on the mains wiring.

Please note these light fittings are refurbished and no longer certified as vapour or explosion proof. Therefore they are not suitable for hazardous applications.
