Product Description
Plumbing pipe Russian Insulator ceiling light. This ceiling light is made from galvanised water pipe with cast fittings. The pipe is connected to the insulator using a custom ELG plastic washer. The Chinese made glass insulators were designed for the high voltage power lines that cross the Russian Federation from power stations to sub stations.
This is a high tension cable insulator normally used on very tall power grid towers. This insulator design was originally made in Soviet Union by the LVIV INSULATOR PLANT started in 1965 and later became the LVIV INSULATOR COMPANY in Lviv, Ukraine in 2002. These insulators weigh in at around 1 kilo so they are expensive to ship and can be supplied with a chain mount in addition to a top hook for ceiling mount. Due to the fact that these insulators are still in manufacture they are able to be sourced with some confidence from suppliers in China.
The minimum drop length for this light is 330mm and at this length comes with no pipe component but fits directly to the ceiling plate. Any increase in this length adds a pipe component between the ceiling plate and the top coupler. Pictured here with 630mm total length total as example in galvanised finish.
Recommended bulbs are listed below. The light fitting can take a variety of bulbs and is pictured with a Small Edison vintage
